November 2025

Dear Kuna Families,

Our theme this year is One Step at a Time. There are so many things that come at us all at once and we have to take a minute to remember we cannot accomplish everything at once, but we can give it our best by taking one step at a time. This reminder has helped all of us as we tackle some of the new state testing, and working on our goals for the year.

Thank you to all our families who connected with teachers during October parent teacher conferences for that important check-in on student learning. (And a special thank-you to those who helped provide meals for our staff those evenings — staff always looks forward to and greatly appreciates your kindness).

As we move into this next quarter, our focus on learning continues — and we also get to enjoy this season which brings some of our most meaningful school traditions. From Veterans Day assemblies to food drives and holiday concerts and celebrations, it’s a wonderful time to see our students shine and to enjoy the warmth of our school community.

I’d also like to thank the parents, students, and community members who give their time to serve on the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. The group met for the first time this month and brought forward thoughtful topics for discussion throughout the year — including safety, nutrition, facilities, programs for students, and more. Your voices and partnership make a difference in helping us strengthen our schools. 🙏

Below I have some updates for you.

Kim Bekkedahl, Superintendent

Tuesday Is Election Day — and a No School Day

A reminder that Tuesday, Nov. 4, is Election Day and there will be no school for students. 🗳️

This is an important local election, with voters deciding on city offices and two seats on the Kuna School Board.

We appreciate the school board candidates who took time to share their views and answer questions during our Oct. 22 candidate forum. You can watch the event at the link below.

Your voice matters — thank you for being an informed voter and supporting our schools! 🖤💛

Find your place to vote

On Election Day, you must vote at your assigned polling place. Look that up here: https://gisprod.adacounty.id.gov/apps/electionday/

Feed It Forward: Help a Kuna Student in Need

Did you know that secondary students cannot charge meals when their lunch account balance runs out?

Our schools are working to make sure no student goes hungry and you can help through our Feed It Forward program.

How it works:

  • Add funds through the LINQ online meal payment system or
  • Don’t use LINQ? Drop off cash or a check at the Kuna School District Office.

Donors may designate a specific school or allow funds to be used where the need is greatest.

Free Virtual Event: Preventing Youth Vaping

The health and well-being of our students is a top priority. We’d love to hear your ideas for prevention events you’d be interested in here in Kuna. Please email ksdcommunications@kunaschools.org

We encourage our families to consider a free virtual presentation on ways to prevent youth vaping offered by Central District Health Department.

Parents and guardians are invited to attend this timely event on Nov. 24 from 6:30–7:30 PM. You will leave with important information on:

  • Current trends and the health effects of vaping.
  • Best strategies for starting a conversation with your child.
  • Free resources available to you and your student.

How to control notifications in ParentSqure
